Just had a quote from BT (Yesterday 06/07/2009) for them to come out and look at a faulty phone extension point that they fitted a few years ago. £115 call out fee, and then £99 an hour whilst working. You are reading these prices correctly, can you believe it, they must be the biggest rip off company in the UK. So if you have a phone line fault and it is not the Master Phone Socket, which they can tell over the phone, this is what they charge, it beggars believe, so be beware.

Yes, I know! I have just had mine cut off because I refused to pay their extortionate fees. They said there would be no charge if the fault was found to be theirs, but they couldn't guarantee this, and I was not prepared to take a chance that the fault was with their equipment not mine. They didn't care that I was having it disconnected. I don't miss it either - especially not their £4.50 charge because I paid by cheque. Maybe more people should ditch BT!!!
